Virtual DPO – Data Privacy Officers Service
Customers are becoming more aware of their data privacy rights – and extremely concerned about how organizations manage and keep their personal data – as a result of data security breaches and data privacy stories.
Simultaneously, businesses are faced with increased problems and legal stumbling blocks when it comes to using personal data, thanks to complex new regulatory restrictions that differ by nation. The impending GDPR, or General Data Protection Regulation, will add to this, with fines of up to 4% of global revenue!
Organizations have begun to recognise that data breaches and careless data use can jeopardise client trust, damage brand reputation, alter stock price, result in significant fines, and even result in senior executives losing their jobs.
Our Data Privacy Officer (DPO) will take the lead on privacy issues, serving as a point of contact for management and employees with privacy concerns. While many employees have explicit privacy obligations and privacy controls are widely distributed throughout the organisation, the Data Privacy Officer is ultimately responsible for the adequacy of the organization's privacy arrangements as a whole, including your privacy framework and compliance with privacy-related obligations.
Our Virtual DPO will collaborate closely with our risk management, compliance, and legal teams to identify legal and regulatory requirements arising from any of the key legislative areas. He or she can help by:
- Assessing the impact of regulatory duties on service delivery, making recommendations for corrective action, and tracking compliance progress.
- Providing regular updates to organizations about new and changing legislation that affect the supply of solutions across many jurisdictions.
- Providing interpretive counsel on specific legal and regulatory requirements, as well as essential compliance controls, to Risk and Control teams.
- Work with Cross Border Data Clearance to better understand how data privacy requirements affect application development, maintenance, and personnel.
- Working with Risk Managers to ensure that proper controls are in place across the organisation in order to meet regulatory compliance requirements.
- Assisting with questions about Data Protection or Data Privacy as they occur.
- Making recommendations for accomplishing corporate goals while adhering to regulations.
- Working with IT and information security departments to ensure that systems are privacy-compliant and data security is maintained.
- Data Privacy Awareness training provides assistance in establishing a company privacy culture.
Finally, our Virtual DPO, or V-DPO, will be in charge of maintaining compliance and best practises in the group's data protection management in light of ongoing legal and regulatory changes.
